It had only been a week since Kory arrived in Griffenhall and already, he hated everything about it. The guards were cruel and the inmates were psycho. Most of them looked like they were young criminals and Kory wasn't sure why he was sent here. Surely this place couldn't do anything but get him killed.

Showering was the worst because the guards kept watch on them the entire time. It felt like an invasion of privacy. Even the orphanage wasn't that bad. At least he didn't have strangers staring at his junk. So far, Kory was ignored for the most part. That was good, because attention in this place seemed to be negative.

He trotted back to his room, the pathetic excuse for a towel slung over his arm. Hopefully, he could find somewhere to hang it to dry back in the room.

Jay sat on his bed smoking a cigarette. Kory walked into their room and immediately wrinkled his nose. The smell of smoke bothered his throat and made his asthma act up, but he didn't have the nerve to tell Jay that. Silently, he hung his towel on his bed, hoping it would dry fast.

he finished his cigarette then crushed it in the ash tray he had. He only smoked because it calmed him down
